I don’t want to be just seen as a body that lures
I don’t want to be just seen as an object of lust;
I don’t want to be merely an ephemeral attraction
that’s eventually forgotten, until the distraction
knocks again and brings me into remembrance:
I don’t want to be a distraction.
I want to be seen as a person beyond my body
I want to be seen as a human worthy of love
I want to be seen as a being worthy of care
I want to be accepted for my existence
I want to be seen as a subject of affection
and I seek these from the one who owes me the most.
Hey self, I deem you worthy, not just as a body that lures!
Hey self, I love you and not just see you as an object of lust!
Hey self, I care for you beyond how your face and body look!
Hey self, I accept you for your existence, for the being you are!
Hey self, I admire you for how you have been, are, and will be!
Hey self, you are enough, no matter what!
